An extract from the 'Wemba Wemba Dictionary' by Luise A. Hercus.
'A bound form is a unit of language that can only be used as part of a word, not as a word on its own (such as the English suffix -ly)' - Wiktionary definition.
Bound forms are an important part of our language, for example, the possessive markers 'ek', 'in' and 'uk' are added to the end of nouns to indicate 'mine', 'yours' and 'his, hers, its' respectively. |
