* Nyurra-Nyurra
Red Raddle, Ochre
Part of speech:
(N)
Sources:
Stone [neuro neuro],
Notes:
Hartmann gives the name [nyora] as the Werkaya term for the native cherry; this is presumably the same word as Wembawemba nyurra-nyurra and refers to the red colour of the berries. (Editor - the English meaning of 'ochre' appears in the English version of the dictionary but not in the WembaWemba to English side. It is possible that English name for Nyurra-Nyurra is Native Cherry. The wood was used to make spear throwers and the red fruit was eaten - see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exocarpos_cupressiformis#/search )
